The Induction Period and the Charge on the Developer Ion

Pages 15-18 | Received 18 Nov 1974, Published online: 22 Jul 2016

Abstract

The initial stages of the process of chemical development are studied. Expressions for thesilver ion flux flowing toward the surface of a growing silver speck are derived for two extreme cases – when the ion current is restricted by Ohmic resistance of the silver bromide grain and when it is determined by the diffusion of the silver ion interstitials. The numerical evaluations in both cases suggest that material transport through the gram does not present substantiallimttatlon to the proces of developmcnt.
