DNA Determination in Photographic Gelatin by the Indole Method

Abstract

Indole is a very sensitive reagent which is frequently used to determine DNA and its derivatives in photographic gelatin.

The yield of the coior formation depends on the other components of the gelatin and to obtain significant results, it is necessary to standardize each gelatin by adding to it known amounts of DNA.

Résumé

L’indole est un réactif très sensible fréquemment utilisé pour doser l’acide desoxyribonucléique et ses dérivés dans les gélatines photographiques.

Le rendement de la réaction colorée varie considérablement d´une gélatine à l´autre et il est nécessaire d’étalonner chaque gélatine par addition de quantités connues d’ADN.

Zusammenfassung

Indol ist ein empfindliches Reagenz zur Bestimmung von DNS (Desoxiribonukleinsäure) und ihrer Abköm mlinge in photographischen Gelatinen.

Da die Ausbeute der Farbreaktion dabei jedoch von anderen in der Gelatine vorhandenen Komponenten beeinflußt wird, muß die Methode für die jeweils vorliegende Gelatine durch Zugabe bekannter Mengen von DNS geeicht werden.

Riassunto

L´indolo è un reattivo molto sensibile, usato frequentemente per la determinazione del DNA e suoi derivati nelle gelatine fotografiche.

La densità ottica del colorante formatosi dipende altresì da altri componenti della gelatina per cui, per ottenere risultati significativi, è necessario standardizzare ogni gelatina mediante l´aggiunta di quantità note di DNA.
