Evolution of the Redox Potential in an Emulsion Layer During Development

Abstract

The redox potential efficient during the development is not the polential of the developer, but the potential prevailing at the very place where the reactions are occurring. Since the knowledge of this potential is liable to bring data important for the understanding of the processes involved, a potentiometric technique has been set up which allows the redox potential change to be followed in an emulsion layer during the course of the development.

Le potentiel d’oxydo-réduction qui intervient lors du développement n’est pas le potentiel redox du révélateur, mais Ie potentiel Prévalent à I endroit même où se produisent les réactions. La connaissance de ce potentiel étant susceptible d’apporter des renseignements importants pour la compréhension des processus mis en oeuvre, on a mis au point une technique potentiométrique permettant de suivre l’évolution du potentiel redox dans une couche d’émulsion en cours de développement.

Das während der Entwicklung wirksame Redoxpotential ist nicht das Potential der Entwicklerlöosung, sondern das Potential, welches sich am Reaktionsort einstellt. Da die Kenntnis dieses effektiven Redoxpotentials zum Verständnis des Entwicklung- sprozesses beitragen kann, wurde eine potentiometrische Technik entwickelt, die es gestattet, dieses Potential in einer Emulsionsschicht in zeitlichem Verlauf der Entwicklung zu verfolgen.

. II potenziale redox efficiente nel corso dello sviluppo non è il potenziale dello sviluppatore, ma il potenziale prevalente nel luogo ove realmente hanno corso le reazioni.

Poichè la conoscenza di questo potenziale é suscettibile di fornire dati importanti per la comprensione dei processi in questione, è stata messa a punto una tecnica potenziometrica che permette di seguire i cambiamenti di potenziale redox in uno strato di emulsione nel corso dello sviluppo.
