High Speed Development of Electrostatic ImagesFootnote

Pages 222-224 | Received 15 Oct 1976, Published online: 22 Jul 2016

Abstract

An essential problem of an electrophotographic nonimpact-printer is the development of electrostatic images on a rotating photoconductor-drum with sufficient speed and with high quality. This paper gives a survey of (he many factors which must be considered in a development-system with magnetic brushes. Image potential, toner concentration, developer llow rate, arrangement and configuration of the magnetic brushes are some of them, which must be considered jointly.

Lifetime of carrier and photoconductor are other essential points for practical use in a computer-output-device. A suitable development-system is presented with its properties.

Paper presented at a symposium on “Electrophotography” organized by the Science Committee of The Royal Photographic Society, on 12-17 September 1976 in Cambridge, England.
