The Effect of Lens Transmittance on the Colour of Photographic Images

Pages 225-228 | Received 01 Jul 1976, Published online: 22 Jul 2016

Abstract

Photographers and other personnel often experience difficulty in accurate reproduction of colour, and to obviate this, extensive work has been done on the sensitive material and processing control. However, the contribution made by various lenses has received little attention in recent years. Too often the spectral transmittance of the lens is assumed to be beyond reproach. This article draws attention to the practical contribution a lens makes to the colour response of the system.
