Classification Systems for Photographic GelatinsFootnote*

Abstract

The problem of the classification of photographic gelatin is discussed. It seems not to be possible to make a useful classification system based only on one or two parameters. The hope is expressed that the trend to use only inert gelatins will simplify the problem in a considerable way.

Résumé

Le problème du classement des gélatines photographiques est discuté. Il semble qu´il ne soit pas possible d´établir un système de classement efficace, basé seulement sur un ou deux paramètres. On exprime l´espoir que la tendance à ne plus utiliser que des gélatines inertes simplifiera le problème.

Zusammenfassung

Das Problem der Klassifizierung photographischer Gelatinen wird diskutiert. Eine sinnvolle Klassifizierung anhand nur eines oder zweier Parameter scheint dabei nicht möglich zu sein. Der Trend, möglichst nur noch inerte Gelatinen zu verwenden, sollte jedoch das Problem beträchtlich vereinfachen.

Riassunto

Viene discussoil problema della classificazione delle gelatine. Non sembra sia possibile costruire una classificazione utile sulla base di uno o due parametri soltanto. Si spera che la tendenza all´uso di gelatine inerti contribuisca a semplificare sostanzialmente il problema.
