The Use of Real-Time Holographic Interferometry for the Measurement of the Swelling of Gelatin Coatings

Abstract

A technique is described for the measurement of the swelIing of surface coatings using real-time holographic interferometry. Measurements made on thin gelatin coatings show that changes in relative humidity produce large changes in coating thickness in a time of 10 seconds.
