Applications of Optical Power Spectrum to Measurements

Abstract

The signal-to-noise optical power spectrum measurement of photographic image and noise serves as a useful measure of image information content. This paper discusses the practical problems in making such a measurement and includes some examples verifying the technique.

La mesure du rapport signal/bruit du spectre de puissance optique de l’image et du bruit photographie est un moyen d’évaluation de la teneur informationnelle de l’image.

Cet article discute des problèmes pratiques que posent de telles mesures et présente quelques exemples vérifiant la technique.

Zusammenfassung

Das Signal/Rausch-Verhältnis basierend auf Messungen des optischen Weiner-Spektrums von fotografischem Bild und fotografischem Rauschen dient als brauchbares Mass für den Informationsgehalt eines Bildes.

Die vorliegende Arbeit diskutiert die Probleme, die bei der praktischen Durchfürhrung derartiger Messungen auftreten und bringt einige Beispiele, anhand derer die Technik erläutert wird.

La misura dello spettro ottico di potenza del rapporto segnale rumore serve come utile misura del contenuto di informazione di una immagine.

Nel lavoro si discutoni i problemi pratici che insorgono nella realizzazione della misura e si danno alcuni esempi per verificare la tecnica.
