Some Aspects of the Use of High Molecular Weight Synthetic and Natural Polymers as Additives to or Replacements for Gelatin in Photographic Products

Pages 181-186 | Received 25 Mar 1982, Published online: 21 Jul 2016

Abstract

A literature survey has been made of the addition to gelatin-containing layers and the partial replacement of gelatin by high molecular weight synthetic and natural polymers as a means of improving the physico-mechanical properties of such layers. Some attempts at the total replacement of gelatin as the binding agent for silver halide photographic emulsions are also reviewed.
