Practical Implementation of Optimum Colour ReproductionFootnote

Pages 145-148 | Received 19 Mar 1984, Published online: 21 Jul 2016

Abstract

The problems involved in defining optimum colour reproduction objectively are discussed, and it is suggested that these may soon be resolved. However, implementing this in practical systems may prove difficult because of the communication gap which exists between theorists and practical operators.

UCR is discussed as a classic case of this gap: a concept which is at least 40 years old is now being hailed as new. The simple theory underlying UCR is discussed and it is shown how this is being implemented in Crosfield scanners.
