Abstract

The use of computerized infra-red thermography is discussed in relation to the measurement of human skin surface temperat.ure. Numerical analysis of digitized thermograms enables quantitative descriptions of thermal patterns to be made which are now adding muc.h to our understanding of the mechanisms involved in physiological thermal processes. Examples are given of the way that such analysIs IS also becoming increasingly useful in clinical diagnosis and assessment.
