Latent-Image Formation in AgBr Sheet Crystals

ABSTRACT

The low photographic sensitivity of AgBr sheet crystals and evaporated AgBr layers, compared with emulsion systems, is attributed to the preferential condensation of Ag atoms at the first stable centres to form. As a consequence, particles of average size 103 to 104 Ag atoms are generated in the early stages of image formation, even in chemically sensitized sheet crystals.
