Effect of Haze on Luminance

Pages 58-61 | Received 24 Jun 1985, Published online: 25 Jul 2016

Abstract

The results from measurement, at a distance, of surface luminance, as it is affected by an intervening atmospheric haze, have been published. These show a large effect of quite small distances upon the readings. The present paper gives an analytical description of this behaviour which confirms the form of the measured variation of luminance.
