The Use of Holographic Interferometry to Visualize the Trailing Edge Flow Structure at the Wheel Exit of a Turbocharger

Pages 77-80 | Received 21 Aug 1985, Published online: 25 Jul 2016

Abstract

The objective of the test performed at Cranfield Institute of Technology was to build a holographic system to visualise a trailing edge flow structure at the wheel exist of a turbocharger.

The structure as postulated by Paul Langdon of Holset Ltd; would result from the airflow being entrained as it left the blade passage, creating a blockage in the diffuser of the turbocharger.
