The Biodegradation of Gelatin and its Problems in the Photographic IndustryFootnote

Abstract

The micro-organisms usually responsible for the biodegradation of gelatin are discussed. The areas of photographic manufacture where gelatin spoilage can occur are mentioned and the need for a quality control programme combined with an effective preventative maintenance programme is stressed.
