The Application of a Colour Reproduction Index to Photographic Reflection Prints—II

Pages 183-192 | Received 21 Mar 1991, Published online: 21 Jul 2016

Abstract

The correlation between a Colour Reproduction Index (CRI) and subjective category scaling of photographic colour prints is examined. A good linear relation between the two is demonstrated for sets of perturbed prints, each containing one of four common predominant colours. The category width is calibrated in terms of the CRI. Conclusions are drawn concerning the applicability of the Hunt colour appearance model to problems of print acceptability.
