Summary
This study investigates the relationship between leadership style, as measured by the Leadership Opinion Questionnaire, and a relatively broad range of personal history data. Two hundred adult males, covering a broad age range, education, and occupational level, were utilized. The data were compared with previous studies which used different measures of leadership style. A multiple regression equation to predict Consideration and Initiating Structure scale scores through the weighted sums of biographical items was computed. The correlations, however, did not hold up under cross-validation. The individual items were then combined into scales through factor analysis, but the scales were not sufficiently homogeneous to increase the probability of more reliable prediction.
