Summary
A questionnaire was administered to 754 secondary school students belonging to the Wolof ethnic group with a view to determining certain aspects of the parent-child relationships. The main results were: 1) permission to go out was usually granted to boys by the father and to girls by the mother, 2) girls more than boys reported they were comforted by their fathers, 3) girls reported their mothers were more helpful to them than their fathers in the choice of a job, while boys found fathers more helpful, and 4) boys seemed to be more frequently punished by fathers and girls by mothers.
