Reading Rate and Body Movement as a Function of Lie Score and Salience of Article

Pages 135-137 | Received 06 Dec 1982, Published online: 02 Jul 2010

Summary

Ten high scorers and 10 low scorers on a Lie Scale read either a highly salient article or one of low saliency while being recorded on videotape in order to assess the effects of these variables on their reading rates and bodily movements. There were no effects of the saliency variation, but the high lie-scale subjects made more movements and read at a faster rate than did the low lie-scale subjects.
