Summary
This study examined the relationship of achievement motivation to attributions, reading achievement, grade level, and sex among 333 middle-school boys and girls. Multiple regression analyses indicated that the attribution of success to effort was the best predictor of achievement motivation. These findings support the hypothesis that attributions of success to effort tended to increase effort more than other attributions.
