ABSTRACT

In the present study, we examined the relationships between the Protestant work ethic (PWE) and a number of demographic variables in a sample of 689 American subjects. The results showed that the Protestant work ethic was related to affiliation with the Republican Party, young age, less education, part-time employment, low income, and single (marital) status. The results of a stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that having less education and being affiliated with the Republican Party were the major predictors of the PWE.
