Abstract
The techniques of statistical data analysis, mathematical model building, and digital computer simulation have been discussed separately in the literature. However, collective application of these techniques for solving an industrial problem is not often published. This paper demonstrates how the three techniques were used collectively to study a strip-coiling temperature-control problem at Inland Steel Company's 80” hot strip mill.
