Abstract
To make quality goods available to consumers, a large number of national standards bodies resort to certification marking of products to indicate conformity of these products to applicable quality standards. Certification marking and quality assurance with particular reference to the Indian Standards Institution (ISI) Certification Marks Scheme are discussed. Incorporation of quality control principles and techniques into the certification marks scheme to build up and maintain the requisite degree of quality assurance to consumers and to provide guidance to manufacturers is described.
