Abstract
The civilian versions of the military variables acceptance sampling system MlL-STD-414 are United States national standard ANSI/ASQC Z1.9(1980) and the international standard ISO 3951(1980). Both these standards have undergone revision to make them compatible with the military attributes sampling standard MIL-STD-105D and its equivalent commercial versions ANSI Z1.4(1971) and ISO 2859(1974). This resolves disparities introduced in 1963 when the MIL-STD-105D tables and procedures were changed from those in previous versions of that standard. This paper details the development and nature of the revisions and describes the amended standards.
