Sexual therapy for a woman with cerebral palsy: A case analysis

Abstract

This article is a case study report of a woman with cerebral palsy who requested sexual counseling. Her goal was to explore techniques for meeting her own sexual needs. Two female sex therapists designed an individualized program of therapy focusing on five areas: sex education, exploration of physical capabilities, exploration of sensual and sexual feelings, development of sexual fantasies, and adaptation and use of a vibrator. As a result of the sex therapy, the client became orgasmic with the use of a specially designed vibrator board and reported a positive increase in sexual awareness and self‐esteem. Four areas for additional research that derive from this case study are noted.
