Two Prehistoric Shell Caches from Southern Arizona

Pages 22-27 | Published online: 25 Jul 2016

ABSTRACT

The Southwestern prehistoric shell trade and its routes are briefly discussed in relation to two unreported caches of shell objects from the Flieger Ruin near Oracle, Arizona, and a site in Tucson, Arizona. The caches are evidence of a prehistoric shell trading and manufacturing activity along a route from the Gulf of California into Arizona and farther north.
