The Gila Bend Stage Station

Pages 169-243 | Published online: 25 Jul 2016

ABSTRACT

Site Arizona T:14:7, located near the present town of Gila Bend, Arizona, was excavated by the Arizona State Museum under contract to the National Park Service in 1960. Investigation of the architectural remains, and analysis of the artifactual material recovered, including glass, pottery, metal and other miscellaneous items confirms the identification of the site as the Gila Bend Stage Station. Detailed study of the artifacts also has aided in confirming the dating of the site at approximately 1850 to 1890.
