ABSTRACT
During the month of August, 1971, the authors lived with a Huichol family in their summer dwelling, Ranchito Cabeza Azul. Cabeza Azul is located along the Rio Camotlan, five miles from the Huichol ceremonial center Tuxpan de Bolanos in western Jalisco. The main interest was the cataloguing and photographing of Huichol material culture and architecture. A focus on household objects, technology and architecture presented a firm basis for further study. It also prevented the authors from infringing upon the Huicholes' religious beliefs and personal dignity since the majority of the study dealt with the directly observable aspects of the culture.
