Abstract
Evidence for a Sedentary-Classic transitional Cortaro phase is reviewed and found wanting. Settlement patterns and community organization for the Tanque Verde and Tucson phases are summarized and a new model of Classic period society in the Tucson Basin is presented. Speculation on the possible cause ot the collapse of Classic period society is offered.
