ABSTRACT
The Homol'ovi Research Program of the Arizona State Museum is a multidisciplinary venture that studies the prehistoric occupation of a portion of the middle Little Colorado River Valley in northeastern Arizona. Research focuses on the analysis of aggregation of the Homol'ovi pueblos: how and why it occurred, what the consequences were, and how it was maintained. This paper discusses the research that has been conducted to date in an attempt to understand the aggregation process. Also discussed are the history of research in the area and the history of the development of the Homolovi Ruins State Park, which offers an interpretive program centered on the late prehistoric, aggregated pueblos.
