Bahman Kalantari

BAHMAN KALANTARI is an emeritus professor of computer science, Rutgers University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science, M.S. in Mathematics, and M.S. in Operations Research, all at the University of Minnesota. His research areas include, optimization, computational geometry, polynomial root-finding and polynomiography. “Polynomiography” stands for the art and science of algorithmic visualization of polynomial equations, a subject about which he has delivered numerous lectures in more than a dozen countries to diverse audiences. He has authored a book, Polynomial Root-Finding and Polynomiography. His article in Math Horizons, “The fundamental theorem of algebra for artists,” coauthored with Bruce Torrence, was selected for the book, The Best Writing on Mathematics 2014. He hopes to spend his retirement catching up with his research interests and also engaging in art-math activities.
