∗ Robert L. Melka, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of History Hope College, Holland, Michigan, died in a tragic accident in December of 1971 at the age of 39. Dr Melka had just begun to publish his extensive research on French and German diplomacy in the Middle East. An article dealing with Admiral Darlan will appear shortly in the Journal of Contemporary History.
