The microwave dispersion spectrum of O2

Abstract

The microwave dispersion spectrum of O2 at 298 K and at various densities up to 1 atmosphere is calculated employing R. G. Gordon's expression for the magnetic dipole absorption spectrum. Good agreement with available refractivity measurements is obtained, indicating (as do theoretical considerations given in the Appendix) that the Kramers-Kronig relations are obeyed to a good approximation at the pressure and frequency ranges investigated.
