Abstract

For the 0-0 and main vibronic bands the Zeeman pattern is determined as a function of the temperature and the strength and direction of B. The intensities of the components in the pattern of the 0-0 band are explained by a mechanism of spin-orbit coupling (SOC), which besides the route described by Ake and Gouterman, involves two additional paths of SOC. The very intense 218/223 cm-1 vibronic band is studied in detail. It is assigned to an eg mode and accounted for by a mechanism of SOC and vibronic coupling, involving a 2 B 2u charge transfer state.
