Abstract

The depolarized Rayleigh scattering from benzene-chloroform mixtures has been studied over a wide range of temperature and composition. The correlation time τLS is affected by both static and dynamic orientational pair correlation factors, which are prevalent in the mixtures. Benzene and chloroform molecules tend to align in a parallel or antiparallel orientation. No evidence of the formation of a long-lived complex was found.
