Coefficients d'interaction à grande distance C5 et C6 pour les 23 états moléculaires de Cl2 et de Br2

Abstract

A partir des courbes R.K.R. connues pour l'état B O u + de Cl2 et de Br2 nous avons déterminé de façon semi-empirique les deux premiers coefficients non nuls C 5 et C 6 du développement multipolaire sphérique de l'énergie à grande distance (R≥5 Å) pour les 22 autres états moléculaires de ces systèmes, en appliquant une méthode proposée très récemment pour I2. Nous présentons les éléments de matrice de l'énergie d'interaction quadrupolaire ainsi que ceux de l'énergie de dispersion en R -6. Pour les deux molécules d'halogènes, l'énergie de dispersion est quasi isotrope. Nous avons estimé certains éléments de matrice de la polarisabilité dipolaire dynamique ainsi que la polarisabilité dipolaire statique αd des deux atomes Cl et Br. Pour cette dernière grandeur nos résultats sont en accord satisfaisant avec la littérature.

From the knowledge of the experimental R.K.R. potential curve for the state B O u + of both molecules Cl2 and Br2 we have determined the first two non-vanishing long-range expansion coefficients C 5 and C 6 for the remaining 22 molecular states of both systems, using a process recently proposed for I2. Matrix elements of the quadrupolar interaction energy are presented as well as matrix elements of the induced dipole-induced dipole interaction energy. For both molecules the dispersion energy term is seen to be quasi-isotropic. Estimates of some matrix elements of the dynamical dipolar polarizability as well as estimates of the static dipolar polarizability αd of both atoms Cl and Br are given. Reasonable agreement with literature results is displayed for αd.
