Abstract
Resonant three-photon transitions are used to identify previously unknown, high vibrational levels of the electronic ground state of ICl using the sequence X(0+)(vx = 0) →A(1) →E(0+) →X(0+)vx = 41–53). The energy of the highest of these levels is at c. 90 per cent of the dissociation energy.
