The paper investigates the group theoretical content of recent perturbational models on cluster bonding. Extensive use is made of the induction theory to relate fragment and cluster symmetry groups. A final section is devoted to the algebraic structure of the cluster representations. This structure can be simplified considerably by introducing the concept of extended sitegroups.
