Abstract

The structure of a crystalline monolayer of C2N2 adsorbed on graphite (0001) has been determined by neutron diffraction between 30 and 180 K. The space group is Pgg and the lattice constants at 95 K are a 1 = 7·22 Å and a 2 = 6·72 Å. The two molecules per unit cell lie parallel to the surface of the substrate. The angle of their axis with a 1 is 55°. As in the bulk crystal the N atoms are in a quasi-compact arrangement.
