Image effects for point ions in a molecular solvent next to a plane wall

Abstract

A mean electrostatic potential approach based on the Kirkwood hierarchy of integral equations is used to analyse a mixture of point ions and dipolar hard spheres against a plane wall. An approximate potential of mean force for a single ion is calculated which includes the analogue of the classical image terms.
