Abstract
Self-diffusion coefficients of ethanol and 1-propanol were measured by the N.M.R. spin-echo technique over the temperature range 285 K ⩽- T ⩽- 320 K and the pressure range 0·1 MPa ⩽- P ⩽- 400 MPa. The results are interpreted on the basis of the rough hard-sphere model. A test of the Stokes-Einstein relation is performed and a modification of it is proposed.
