The equilibrium structure of highly polar molecular liquids

Abstract

Neutron diffraction measurements have been performed at three temperatures covering the liquid range of SO₂. Refined molecular structure parameters have been derived, and new results concerning the intermolecular single particle pair correlation functions are presented. The short-range liquid structure demonstrates the presence of strong oriental correlations which are difficult to explain in terms of simple pair potentials.
