Abstract

The spectra of HCN, DCN, D¹³CN, and DC¹⁵N in the region 51 000 to 65 000 cm^-1 are re-examined in response to a recent ab initio CI study. Through inspection and analysis of the rotational structure and a normal coordinate analysis of the vibrational structure, the spectra remain confidently attributed to transitions to a single electronic state of ¹ A″ symmetry. No experimental evidence is found for the 2 ¹ A′ state predicted to exist in this energy region.
