Abstract
The spectra of HCN, DCN, D13CN, and DC15N in the region 51 000 to 65 000 cm-1 are re-examined in response to a recent ab initio CI study. Through inspection and analysis of the rotational structure and a normal coordinate analysis of the vibrational structure, the spectra remain confidently attributed to transitions to a single electronic state of 1 A″ symmetry. No experimental evidence is found for the 2 1 A′ state predicted to exist in this energy region.
