Research note

On the simple derivation of approximate integral equations for triplet and higher-order distribution functions of homogeneous fluids

Pages 1011-1017 | Received 13 Sep 1991, Accepted 01 Apr 1992, Published online: 22 Aug 2006

Abstract

A method of obtaining the triplet and higher-order distribution functions for homogeneous systems from integral equations for the distribution functions of inhomogeneous systems is considered. An inhomogeneity, as an external field, is generated by holding fixed the coordinates of the definite group of particles. The hypernetted chain integral equations for the triplet and fourth-order distribution functions of homogeneous systems are obtained. A comparison with up-to-date theories is discussed.
