Abstract
The effects of fluctuating polarizability are accounted for by means of a perturbative approach closely by connected to a previous treatment of polarizabilities in the mean spherical approximation. Monte Carlo reaction field calculations are performed for a generalized Stockmayer model for ammonia with effective dipole moment, and results are in agreement with those obtained from the self consistent mean field approximation, but computed dielectric constants show significant deviations when compared with results from molecular dynamics for a model with static polarizability.
