SUMMARY
The family Philosciidae (Crustacea Oniscoidea) is represented in Africa by 22 genera and this review includes the diagnosis for each and lists the African species. However, in some instances, a study of the type-material is necessary in order to formulate a satisfactory and complete diagnosis. The genera Afrophiloscia and Uluguroscia are described as new, and several species are described or re-described.

Revisione della famiglia Philosciidae (Crustacea Oniscoidea) in Africa. Vengono elencati 22 generi per ognuno dei quali è presentata la diagnosi e la lista delle specie africane. Per alcuni di essi, mancando il materiale tipico, non è stato possibile fornire una diagnosi veramente completa e soddisfacente. I generi Afrophiloscia e Uluguroscia vengono descritti come nuovi; numerose specie sono descritte o ridescritte.
