SUMMARY
Stagonospora arenaria Sacc. causes a purple blotch leaf disease of a number of grasses in the north temperate and subarctic regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The emended concept of the species includes a somewhat polymorphic species with triseptate, narrowly cylindrical to subfusiform spores 27–70 × 2.6-5.0μ.
