Synthesis of Riboflavin by Ashbya Gossypii Grown in a Synthetic Medium

SUMMARY

1.

Two different synthetic media were found to permit the production of riboflavin by A. gossypii if ammonium acetate and Tween 80 were included.

2.

Higher riboflavin yields were obtained with the use of inoculum grown on a complex organic medium than with inoculum grown on a synthetic medium, but this was not found to be due to a carryover of nutrients.
