SUMMARY
The appearances in culture of different isolates of Sclerotinia fructicola (Wint.) Rehm, S. fructigena Aderh. and Ruhl., S. laxa Aderh. and Ruhl. and one isolate of S. laxa forma mali (Wormald) Harrison are described. Different isolates of S. fructicola were very variable but there was much less variation in S. fructigena and S. laxa. Mycelial contact between isolates resulted in several different reactions, which may be used to determine compatibility between the isolates and species.
