Thalassiomycetes XI. Further Studies of the Genus Lindra with a Description of L. Marinera, A New Species

Pages 486-495 | Accepted 02 Apr 1969, Published online: 12 Sep 2018

SUMMARY

A new species of the scolecosporous marine genus Lindra is described. The fungus, isolated from Thalassia testudinum in Biscayne Bay, differs from the species L. thalassiae in both morphological and physiological characters, especially in ascospore length. Dissimilar response of L. marinera and other lindras to various carbohydrates, notably cellulose and cellulose degradation products, are further evidence of physiological differences among the taxa examined.
